Traveling Superintendent

  • Oversee all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction, progress, quality control, housekeeping, and daily log;
  • Provide guidance, leadership and direct supervision of site staff, including assistant superintendents, laborers and other construction related personnel;

Summary:   The Multi-Disciplinary Engineer is responsible for planning and design in the areas of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems for construction projects. 

Department:  Architecture

Reports to:  Architecture Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for building construction
  • Review architect’s design for proposed construction and ensure that the MEP design does not create collision issues within the MEP discipline or with structural systems
  • The design must meet construction requirements, and meet local, state, and federal Codes and regulations relevant to the project
  • Present and explain designs to Clients in a format that is most easily understood by each Client
  • Be flexible to revise and adjust designs where appropriate
  • Responsible for preparing plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates for the MEP systems
  • Review Civil documents as related to local utilities and their impact on MEP design
  • Creates technical drawings, plans and specifications using computer software (Revit,  MasterSpec, & e-SPECS)  
  • Provide the architect with progress designs of the MEP systems at predetermined deadlines
  • Validate design issues related to the MEP systems and formulate alternative solutions
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work
  • Provide detailed documentation necessary for obtaining permits including COMcheck
  • Provide ways to maximize the project’s available space for system installation
  • Research existing conditions to minimize surprises and determine the most cost-effective design.

Accountability:

  • Maintain Engineer Licensure in applicable states
  • Review and Process submittals through Procore
  • Collaborate with Project Management team including cost estimating

Qualifications – To perform the job successfully, an individual should possess the following qualifications:

  • Education:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and /or Electrical Engineering (an advanced degree and professional licensure a plus)

- 2-5 years’ experience working in engineering (preferably in construction) with working knowledge of MEP systems

  • Personal Skills:

- Proven expertise as a Multi-Disciplinary Engineer in the MEP field

- Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering codes and safety standards

- Proficient in Revit design and calculation software and Microsoft Office products

- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and a strong reasoning ability
